January 07, 2026

A St Catherine man accused of raping an intoxicated woman while she slept on Christmas Day was granted bail in the sum of $200,000 with surety when he appeared in the Parish Court on January 6, 2026.

The accused, Dave Dacres otherwise called "Crab Up", was granted bail on condition that he stays away from the complainant. He is scheduled to return to court on March 20, 2026, when the matter will be mentioned.

According to allegations, about 11:00 p.m., the 34-year-old complainant became intoxicated and fell asleep at a house in a community. It is alleged that she was sexually assaulted by Dacres, who also hit her on the back with a piece of pipe.

The woman reportedly managed to escape and later reported the matter to the Spanish Town police. An investigation was launched by the Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse, CISOCA, which resulted in Dacres' arrest.

He was subsequently charged with rape, indecent assault and assault occasioning bodily harm following a question-and-answer session.
