Spice embracing her ‘Soft Girl Era’

February 05, 2026

The recent nippy weather may be the result of the cold front predicted by the Met Office, or perhaps it is because the Queen of the Dancehall Spice swept into the island, sporting a new look, new accent, and a totally new demeanour for 2026.

The So Me Like It hitmaker is now turning heads with an auburn hair shade she calls pumpkin spice, a colour fans are raving about, describing it as vintage chic and surprisingly approachable. Along with the softer aesthetic comes a calmer presence -- a noticeable shift from the fiery persona she's long been known for. Curious about the makeover and what it signals for her next chapter, THE STAR caught up with the dancehall icon.

Just over a week ago, Spice dropped the visually rich music video for Soft Girl Era, unveiling not one, not two, but more than 10 distinct looks. The result is a stunning fashion-forward production that mirrors the philosophy behind the song.

As she explained, Soft Girl Era represents a modern lifestyle aesthetic centred on softness, self-care, femininity, confidence, and emotional well-being -- without sacrificing ambition or authority.

"It's the season where I choose peace over chaos, beauty over burnout, and intentional living over survival mode. I no longer answer to everyone or everything that bothers me."

While the phrase Soft Girl Era first emerged around 2019 within Gen Z culture, Spice says she has now fully embraced it as her personal mantra.

"I decided to turn it into a song because this is the season I'm in right now. I'm choosing me and loving up on myself more."

As part of this evolution, Spice revealed that she enlisted the help of former parliamentarian and Miss World, Lisa Hanna, to guide her through this new, gentler phase.

"I told her I need help to maintain this poise and sophistication because in the past, you know I would cuss out the people dem if them call me name. Now I'm saying no to anything that aggravates me. I'm resting more, eating healthy, and ensuring that Grace is okay and she is prioritised."

When it came to executing the Soft Girl Era visuals, Spice said the mission was clear: couture, high fashion, and sophistication -- flawlessly blended. The video features over ten wardrobe changes and was shot entirely in Miami to capture the perfect aesthetic.

"I flew my entire team to Miami to capture the video because it provided the perfect aesthetic to unify the visuals and bring the entire concept to life. This video cost me a lot to capture; however, it was very important for me to tell the Soft Girl Era Story."

According to Spice, the track is currently sitting at number one on the Reggae iTunes chart in the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy, Switzerland, and several other countries -- proving that this softer era is hitting just as hard.
